In Ketchikan, the biologist conducts stream surveys in the seat behind the pilot so that both pilot and biologist are looking out of the same side of the plane. There are 12 primary ADF&G aerial surveyors in Southeast Alaska that manage the net fisheries. Of these, five AMB’s (Area Management Biologists) do the majority of the surveys.

The victim stated he was riding his bicycle alone along the riverbed of the Jack River, which is near the confluence of the Nenana River.

Update 7/28: At approximately 1800 hours on July 27, 2021, volunteers from the Alaska Mountain Rescue Group and HELO 3 recovered the deceased from a steep, mountainous area of Eagle River Valley. The deceased are identified as 23-year-old Anchorage resident Dakota Bauder and 27-year-old Hawaii resident McKenna Vierra. Next of kin has been notified.
