The only sure way to get a package scanned in is to take it to the post office, wait in line, and ask for a receipt. If you drop it in a mailbox or leave it for pickup, it may not get scanned. If the truck was just picking up mail from drop boxes the driver may not have a scanner. If the driver was about to finish rounds and head back to the sort facility it could be scanned that day.
