Its the same with Jury Duty, which I myself have been summoned for; they are delivered I believe through a bailiff, or some similar type of office. On the subject of recorded delivery, if you feel you can trust your postie; then I don't see any problem.

Firstly recorded delivery has not existed for some years, the equivalent modern service is signed for. There is no typical letter sent signed for and I can't see anyway of providing the information you need for reassurance. However, most nasty things like speeding tickets etc come via normal mail as it is not standard for DVLA to use signed for.

I think something to do with Jury service. We have sent out speeding notices recorded delivery from my police force although we don't do it currently so I'm sure some police forces may send out things like that recorded delivery.
