The only way to send mail by recorded delivery is by doing it from a post office (I think?) and they'll soon stop you if you hand it over to them asking for (free) recorded delivery. It doesn't cost much to send something recorded though, at least if it's not a particularly big letter or package.

Nov 09, 2008 · Also, the 4 days quoted for your letter is the time to allow to be fairly sure of delivery. Even a normal second class / freepost letter should be there in 2 days. And the time quoted will almost certainly allow time for it to be processed once it has been delivered, and that won't change no matter how quickly the letter gets there.
