At about 4 months old though, as I said, he started to change. Here’s how a slight adjustment to his routine made for a smoother day (and night). When Hayden turned four months old we noticed that after 3 hours he just wasn’t that hungry and was starting to eat less and less, but seemed hungrier more often throughout the day, and he was also waking up more at night, starving and …

My son is 4 months old and he's breastfeeding every three hours and sleeps through the night without a night feeding. When I feed him it's more on a 2 1/2 to 3 hour schedule rather than "demand feeding." He hardly every fusses to be fed so I'm really feeding him because I need to (starting to feel uncomfortable).

In the first month, your child was most likely be eating every 1 1/2 to two hours, but by the time he or she is 4 months old, those feedings can be stretched out to three to four hours. Breastfed babies will eat slightly more often than their formula-fed counterparts because breastmilk digests quicker than formula.

Nov 22, 2015 at 7:40 AM. My son is 4 months and since 3 months has been waking every 1-2 hours as well. I always just feed him but he only eats a few minutes for some of the wakings. It's really rough and I hope it's temporary because I'm SO tired. I sleep on the couch and have him in the swing.

I say this is a sign that 4 hours is coming soon. Until then, let baby go 3.5 hours in the morning, then do 3 hours the rest of the day. You can do a combination 3-3.5 or even 3-4 hour schedule. You can do some intervals at four hours, others at three hours, and others at 3.5 hours.
