My 3 week old is the same, she sleeps amazingly from the evening throughout the night, waking ever 3 hours or so for a feed lasting about an hour then back to sleep. But soon as we Gert up in the morning around 7 its a battle to get her to sleep. From 7am she'll have an hour nap and then she'll be up for about two hours taking little bits from ...

Tameka224 06/01/17. My 3 week old has a lot of awake time during the day (and sometimes at night ). She stays awake for sometimes 2 hours as much as I try to put her back to sleep after 1 hour tops! She doesn't really cry or show signs of overtiredness. No matter what I try she will just lie there calmly looking at me.

Mine was awake from 4am-11pm at that age (yes, 19 hours and only slept 1-3 hours in between 11pm-4am), really it was a horrendous nightmare. At 3 weeks, they shouldn't stay awake more than 30-60 minutes or so (60 max) so 3 hours means baby is not knowing to go to sleep when tired.

Thus it would not be unusual to have a newborn baby who is awake but generally unhappy from 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm. After this long window of being fussy and awake, most babies will then have their longest period of sleep (2-4 hour for a baby who is only a few weeks old, 3-6 hours for a baby who is 1-3 months old).

Hello, My 2 week old baby girl (3 days out of this past week) has been awake for a period of 12 hours. During this time she can only be consoled by being held- if that is done.. she doesn't cry. My husband (a father of 3) and I have tried all possible interventions we can imagine to soothe and console her to sleep..or at least to be out of our arms for a bit... and it aint …

Baby awake for 7+ hours straight. I'm really worried about my 8 week old daughter. She is really fighting daytime naps to the point of being up now since 2:30pm. It's 9pm here. She has those crazy huge overstimulated eyes and nothing we do seems to calm her (trust me- …

Baby girl is now 5 months old and sleeps 10-11 hours a night, plus 3 or 4 total hours of naps during the day, so there is hope! Things got better around two months or so, once her naps got more reliable and her sleep started to cycle more normally (in the first week, their days and nights can still be mixed up).
