Posted July 9, 2018. fYI, I dont know if it helps but my 2 cents worth. I purchased a 2016 kx250f new. Rebuilt top end at 110 hours. The piston was in good condition and compression was great. The valves were tight and needed reshimmed so I changed out the piston and rings while I had the head off to change shims. 2.

I did top end on my 2012 CRF250R at 60 hours just to be safe. Its at 100 hours now on stock bottom end and valves, still runs like a champ. Oil changed every 5 hours, filter done every ride. I think you can get a lot more hours out of a 4 stroke than everyone thinks if they aren't ridden to shit and maintained reasonably.

Hey I have some questions on top end work on any four stroke race bike i guess but I ride kx 250f not that it matters lol ANYWAYS 1. Is boreing aloud in racing? idk if this is a dumb question but i cant help but think why wouldnt everyone be going big bore on their race bikes? is it legal to race is my question.. idk how anyone would know.. but if you race 250 can u bore to a 290 or whatever ...
