Though many people do take 18 credits in a semester, it is your individual experience and no one else’s. An 18-credit semester may be worth losing some sleep over — but it’s not worth losing your sanity. Pay attention to warning signs that you’re doing too much and stop yourself short before it worsens.

dblomd April 8, 2012, 9:37pm #17.
It's definitely doable. My freshman year I took 18 credits each semester, worked 10-15 hrs a week, practiced piano 15 hrs a week, was in a musical in the fall, did other hw, and still found time for a social life. It's all about balance and time management.
. system closed April 15, 2021, 2:37am #18.

It all depends on the person. If you think 18 will burn you out, I'd recommend going lower. Or you can try 18, see if you feel comfortable, and just drop one class if you find that 18 is too much. Better to do 15 credits really well than to do 18 credits half-assed because you're overwhelmed.
