My 3 week old drinks a 4 oz. Bottle every 3 hours. If he finishes a 4 oz. Bottle and is still hungry and crying I'll make 2 more ounces for him and he usually finishes around 5 ounces. I really think it all depends on the baby. My LO is just about 10 pounds at 3 weeks so he's a big boy and loves to eat! Lol

It is not too much I wouldn't think. It is good actually in case he gets sick. 3-4 oz. every 2-4 hours is normal. You shouldn't put more water in because the water ratio in formula is just enough for babies and before 6 months more water than the ratio with formula can actually make them sick. So I would be careful.

She eats about 2-3 ounces every 2 hours instead of 4 every 3-4 hours. ... My 3 month old still eats every 1-2 hours, and it was only 45 minutes between feedings during his growth spurts. Breast milk is digested VERY quickly and newborn's stomachs are only the size of a marble. Try cluster feeding in the evenings to stretch out your night time ...

https://parenting.stackexchange.com/questions/37598/is-it-normal-for-a-3-month-old-to-eat-every-1-5-to-2-hours-per-night
Is it normal for a 3-month-old to eat every 1.5 to 2 hours per night? Yes, it is "normal" for some babies to do so, and since this is your baby's pattern, it is "normal" for him.
